Whether it be stained, chipped or crooked teeth, imperfections in our smiles can make us very self-conscious. Luckily, dentists have made great strides in treatments that can correct these issues. Dental veneers are one of them.
Veneers are thin, customized shells made of synthetic materials, designed to cover the front side of teeth. Veneers can be made of porcelain or resin composite materials. Porcelain is better able to resist stains and often looks more natural, while resin is thinner and requires less removal of the tooth surface. It’s important to discuss with your dentist which option is better suited to you.
To place the veneers, dentists must remove a small amount of enamel from the tooth, in order to accommodate the shell. This makes veneer placement an irreversible process. Veneers have an estimated lifespan of between 5 and 10 years, at which point they will need to be replaced.
Having a healthy, bright, beautiful smile can enhance your appearance and allows confidence to shine through your smile. Talk to your dentist for more information.
